Greywater Recycling

The number one global concern is not global warming, as many think. It is actually the shrinking resource called clean water. Think about it, which would you choose to live one week without, if you had to choose one: petroleum, food, or water? Nobody can choose water because you cannot live without water for one week. So why is everyone concerned so much with recycling aluminum and paper? Pfft! Let's all try to preserve our diminishing water resources.

I wish to share with you the following for your reading pleasure:

Simply put, water CAN be used more than once.

Blog Action Day

Today is the day! The next few articles will be rather out of character for the theme of this blog, as they will be directly related to saving the environment rather than saving money by doing free things on the internet.

Alert for all bloggers

Hi blogging fans! Don't forget, next Monday, October 15th, is Blog Action Day. If you still haven't signed up, there is still time. Blog Action Day is a moment when bloggers worldwide take the time to talk about saving the environment. I still plan on participating, and I hope the movement helps make a difference. You can help too! If you don't have a blog, make a blog! (There are plenty of free blogging services on the internet like the one I'm using). And don't worry if you can't think of what to blog about. You have a couple of days to think about what you'll say, and to research it if neccessary.

Update

Denied again. I have decided not to pursue BlogExplosion any more right now.
I'm getting plenty of readers from BlogMad and Blog Soldiers anyway.

Email from BlogExplosion:
Your site was denied at BlogExplosion.

Title: The Everything Portal to the Web
URL: http://everythingweb.blogspot.com/

This site was denied for the following reason(s):

Site Not Allowed

BlogExplosion only accepts certain types of websites, and yours does
not match our list of allowed sites.

And I am sick right now, that's why I'm not blogging as much. I will be back at full speed ahead as soon as I feel better. Thanks!

After weeks of waiting....

...to be approved by the benevolent admin at BlogExplosion (and my hours spent surfing via their system to earn points), I received this in my email yesterday:

Your site was denied at BlogExplosion.

Title: The Everything Portal to the Web
URL: http://everythingweb.blogspot.com/

This site was denied for the following reason(s):

No Original Content

Our reviewers determined that your site contains content from or links
to nothing but other sources, and does not have any original content.
Because of this, your site does not fall inside the definition of a blog
and we cannot accept it.

Spam/Keyword Site

Our reviewers determined that your site has no purpose other than to
generate money. Such sites include keyword blogs and blogs with nothing
but sponsored posts and largely rely on incoming links to generate
revenue. Such sites are not blogs, they are spam.

Don't you think this is outrageous? What really pisses me off is the Spam/Keyword Site section. Find one single sponsored post. I have two, count them: 2, places I could possibly make money off this blog. If you look in my Ads and Affiliates section in the right, I have referral links to Agloco and FreeCardMatrix. IS THIS SPAMMING???!!! As far as original content, I would like to think the time I've spent writing about websites and cool things on the internet have not gone to waste. Please comment to this post. I don't care if you agree, disagree, or are indifferent, just let me know that you've read this post and what your thoughts are. Thank you, dear readers.

Get a free email address

Okay, when you signed up to have internet where you live, your internet provider gave you an email address. I hope that's not the one you use for everything, because if you start receiving 100 SPAM emails a day, and you want to ditch the email address because you can't stop them, then you'll have to go to your internet provider and explain the whole situation. What a headache! Instead, I recommend having a free web-based email address. They are easy to create, most are easy to navigate, and you have the option of starting fresh anytime you want to! Plus, you could have more than one email address. You could set up one for emailing your friends, one for business, and one for signing up for freebies (hint, hint).

Free music for your website

You can download all the music you want for free- the catch is that they're MIDI files. MIDI's, which stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface, is a tinny/computerized sounding version of any kind of audio. Like the music old nintendo used to play, or a lot of phone ringtones sound like. They make great backround muzak for your website, because the files are smaller than mp3's, so they load quickly, and you can loop them.

A great place for finding whatever MIDI you want is MIDI Search Engine (A.K.A. MusicRobot). You can search by band, song, or just browse by the letter. Take it for a test drive today.

P.S. You could even have a snippet of famous music play on your computer when you shut it down or start it up, just an idea, hee hee.

www.redkid.net

RedKid.net is a someone's personal project and has such fun stuff on it, I'm sure you'll enjoy browsing it for a few minutes or hours (I did). Everything is easy to find, easy to read, and rated for all audiences. I especially like the sign generator section (you have got to try creating your own bumper sticker!), and there are several to choose from. There's an arcade, student resources, and so many fun things to do.

My Coke Rewards program

Register at My Coke Rewards

The Coca-Cola Company is currently running a product-purchase rewards program, called My Coke Rewards. You can collect codes from under caps and inside boxes from several of their varieties of beverages. After entering these codes on the website, and once you have saved up enough points, you can redeem the points for all sorts of freebies and goodies! They have had all sorts of sports merchandise (NASCAR, NFL, NBA, etc.), Coke branded swag, magazine subscriptions, and (my favorite) even free rentals from Blockbuster. The goodies are occasionally sold out, but new ones are being added all the time! Once in a while they have a day where all the points you get that day are doubled! The only negative is that they limit you to entering 10 codes or less per day.

How to build a website 1.0

One of the coolest moments in life is when you say to someone whose hand you just shook, "Check out my website". Having your own personal website is excellent for telling your friends about news in your family. Having a business website is excellent for making money, from a couple extra mad money bucks to part-time income, or even full-time income! Having a hobby website makes it easier to connect with people of similar interests, and generate real appreciation for your efforts. Having a professional-looking website that you built yourself is a bonus on top of all other benifits. Not everybody can build their own website, and many more just think they can't. It's actually easier than it looks.

All websites on the internet are made of files written in a language that browsers can understand and interpret what to display to you. This language is called "HTML", which stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. Even if you decide not to build yourself a website, knowing this language is a major asset in doing things on the internet. You can certainly spice up your eBay auctions, if you do those. In any case, there is this group called the "World Wide Web Consortium" (Website Here), and what they do is determine what standards the HTML language should have, to keep browsers from mucking things up. Related to them is a website with bountiful resources for learning website building, and that's where I would recommend starting:

Free e-cards and greetings

Okay, so your friend's birthday is coming up, and you want to at least send them a card. Problem is, they're a friend you've only ever "met" online. No problem! Send them an e-card. This is a digital version of what you would send them through the post office. A quick search from any search engine will reveal to you that you can become a subscribing member of several online greeting cards websites after a quick signup with your credit card. Well, this blog isn't about spending money online, now is it? Heh, heh, heh. Believe it or not, there are e-cards that can be sent for FREE. Just be wary, the websites that offer free e-cards make their money from advertisers. A few of them will start sending you spam emails if you're not careful where you use your email address. Some offer e-cards if you download their toolbar (big bad no-no!). And watch out for pop-up or pop-under ads, don't click on them or you'll be in a world of adware and spyware troubles!

Free magazine subscriptions

Would you like to get some magazine subscriptions for free? Freebizmag is a third-party website that can hook you up with free magazines, because publishers are dying to give away free subscriptions! Without quoting my sources, I will just tell you ambiguously that magazines are produced at incredibly low prices (paper + ink + staples), the most publishers pay is for the "reporters", for all the articles and photos. It is way worth it for publishers to give away free subscriptions because their studies tell them that people often pay to continue the subscription if they like it. So to get people to like it, they are willing to offer free samples.
With freebizmag, you will have to enter a bunch of information the first time, and log in every time afterwards. They are mostly looking for professionals to match up with subscriptions to magazines in their field of profession. So if you don't tell them just the right thing, you may be told that you don't qualify. Try to select options in the drop-down boxes that are related to the magazine you're trying to qualify for. If all else fails, I have discovered that educators apparently qualify for almost anything. That is, select EDUCATION>Education>SCHOOL>Education>Educator/Teacher.

Car and Driver for automotive enthusiasts.
Cycle World for motorcycle enthusiasts.
Flying magazine for aviation enthusiasts.
Boating for boat enthusiasts.
Metropolitan Home decorating magazine.
Popular Photography & Imaging photography profession magazine.
PC Magazine all about computers.
Home Business for running a business from home.
American Cheerleader helpful stuff for cheerleaders (and wannabe's!).
Pink magazine for female business professionals.
Nursing Made Incredibly Easy for nurses and similar.
The Green magazine for golfers.

More Free Fonts to Download

I know I wrote about Dafont.com before, saying that they were a great source for fonts, but they aren't my absolute favorite. I would personally have to give a five star rating to none other than FontFace.com. While they do SELL fonts, they have an amazing collection of fonts contributed by people for free use. And all fonts are clearly labelled whether they are free or not. All the free fonts are in a browsable archive, sorted alphabetically. There are some pretty familiar-looking fonts (related to specific movies and businesses), and pretty much anything in any style. It's quite addicting to browse them.

Go to FontFace.com now!

P.S. I can't help it- I'd like to recommend my favorite font. Look for "Joint by PizzaDude" in the "J" section! :P

Neopets: Part I (Games)

Today I'm going to write about my favorite thing to do on the whole world wide web: play Neopets. I'm going to write about it again on this blog, I'm sure, so I'm breaking it down into several "parts". Part one is about the games on Neopets, the number one reason that adults join.

The games on Neopets have so much variety, there literally is something for everyone. I absolutely suck at a lot of computer games, but I have been able to find many games I love to play on Neopets. There are games of chance for those who are lucky, adventure games for those who love to spend a lot of time making progress, puzzle-type games for those who enjoy figuring things out, and games that are so easy that if you can't play any of the above, you can still play these. Most of the games are Flash-based.

You are NEVER too old to play on Neopets, don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise. My own mother became addicted to Neopets shortly after I showed her a few of the games!

Own the internet with AGLOCO

How would you like to own a piece of the internet? Yes, I know that sounds confusing. I wondered what that meant, once upon a time. So let me introduce you to the AGLOCO system. This is greater than any other get paid to do something on the internet program, and I'll tell you why. Once you join, you are more than a "member". You actually own part of the system, with real world value! Let me explain how it works, let's trace the money.... Advertisers pay AGLOCO to display their ads on the viewbar, the creators of AGLOCO take out a tiny chunk for their efforts, and the rest of the money is divided up among the members! AGLOCO as a company gains value as more members join, because advertisers will pay more to reach a larger audience, and AGLOCO's stocks values go up. MEMBERS own AGLOCO stocks! So as you can see, it can only get bigger! To own a larger chunk of AGLOCO, all you have to do is invite members, and they will invite members, and everybody earning will also give you a small percent. The best time to join is right now, so you can start inviting new members as soon as possible!

Coupons galore!

Are you the kind of person who can't stand to miss buying a Sunday paper, but you don't usually read it? Yeah, that's right, you're after the coupon inserts! You can save so much on food and household products, and a true coupon hunter can even get products free sometimes! Well, believe it or not, the World Wide Web provides a new treasure-chest source for coupons. All you need is a printer!
Some words of wisdom, first:
  1. Some websites require you to install a little bitty snippet of a program on your computer before printing your coupons. ALWAYS be sure your source is trustworthy before installing things on your computer!

  2. Some coupons offered are a one-time print. If something goes wrong like your browser crashing or your printer running out of ink, you may not be able to access the coupon again. Take it for granted, $h*t happens.

  3. You may be able to access certain coupons based on your Zip Code area. The companies know what products are available or not in your area. This is mostly helpful.

  4. A few websites require "membership" before you can access the coupons. They don't ask for much, and if this signs you up for an e-newsletter, you can always unsubscribe.

  5. Have your printer on, hooked up, paper-ed up, and ink-ed up, before coupon hunting.

Free Fonts for download

The absolutely best website I've ever found for FREE fonts is dafont.com. You may ask yourself, "Why would I need any more fonts than what came installed on my computer?". Well, I personally create birthday cards, letters, posters, stickers, and other things on my computer, and things always have an extra edge to them if the font used matches the theme. You can find fonts that look like handwriting, typewriter print, and lots of fonts specific to movies and companies. If you want to make invitations for your little girl's birthday party, maybe you want your words to have flowers on them? How about a poster advertising a laser tag game, wouldn't you want your words to look all techno and outer-space-ish?
